Greetings to Budi,
I'm Marinah from the English Commitee group. My group have some
things to clarify regarding the english workshop.
1) How many students will there be in a class?
2) How many people would be needed to take charge of a class?
3) Do the students there know their basic alphabets and numbers or
do we have to teach them all?
4) Do we have the permission to bring them out for an outdoor
activities?
Sorry to ask you a lot of questions :)
Thank You for your help, and once again sorry for the inconvenience
caused.
Regards,
Marinah

You have been working so hard and still managed to lern bahasa
Indonesia.
Some correction again though:
When you ask how are you ( apa khabar ) the answer is baik baik
instead of Biak biak ( Biak is an island , another place that we
should go ,it is at west Papua . It is a great fishing ground ).
Good afternon can be said as selamat siang until around 3 PM.
Afterward it should be sore ( before the darkness).
The word tolong it self means help .
Do you have a boy/girl friend ? anda sudah punya pacar?
Where do you live ? tingal dimana ? or rumahnya dimana?
Rumah saya di ..... ( my house is at ... ).
sekolah dimana where do you study ( where are you studying?).
boleh minta nomer tilpun anda ( tilpun nya)? may I have your ph no?
Suka makan apa ? what is your fav food?
saya suka makan sate . I like to eat sate.
umurnya ( umur anda ) berapa how old are you ?
Kerja anda apa ? what is your job?
berapa jarak nya dari sini kesana? what is the distance from here
to there ?
siapa nama bapak itu? what is the name of that (male) person?
ibu ( female )
Some more soon.

Gong Xi Fa Cai
we have arranged with some schools in Timor.
There are chances for you to teach ( to share) at a public school,
muslim school and private school.
Please give your best for the projects.
We have the electrical system the same as in Singapore , so you can
recharge your hp or anything else at any time.
But there will be a big differences if we bring you to our other
places ( the farm that we are going to open, the villages etc Some
are not having any toilets at all, doorless hut etc).
We will place you at a place where you do not have to bring your
sleeping backs.
Bring your own towel please.
There are shops where you can get almost everything but it is better
if you prepare the tooth paste, shaver, flash light. skin lotion etc
from Singapore so that your time can be used more efficiently there.
May be you will need some glove ( cloth one) if you do not want your
hands to be remain smooth and pretty ha ha ha).
There will be some days that you will be staying at some families.
The muslim friends can be accomodated to stay with the muslim
families as well .
The Budhist followers can be accomodated too.
Give me the final list by Feb 10th and I hope that there won't be any
changes so that I do not have to deal with the ticketing matters
after the thing has been booked.
For Sandy or others who would like to have a different timing please
let me know in detail. I will make the arrangement accordingly.
Please send me e mail and ask me anything at all about the trip.
I will be leaving Singapore on the 2nd to Los Angeles and will be
back on the 8th.
13th I am going to New York and will be back on the 19th.
Now some note about the language:
PLease use the word "saya " instead of "aku" in Indonesia .it means
me or my self. it is consider as more polite and proper manner to all.
Call our organisers by bapak . unle or Oom instead of their names
please .
for example bapak/ pak Yi Hao, unle Yi hao or Oom Yi hao.
especially if you call the Governor I am sure that you will not call
him just his name right?
Bahasa Indonesia is very simple , I would like you to buy a simple
conversasion book .May is around 5 to 10 SGD.
read the vocabulary.
I am sure that Yi Hao and me are not as good as the book authors.
Have a blessed day
Hi all,
Please note that we have made an appointment on February 11th
Saturday for vaccination at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The first slot is reserved for us - only if we are on time.
I've posted a poll - let me know through the poll if you are coming.
For those who CAN make it that day
----------------------------------
- please bring $375 along for the second installment for the trip.
- please be on time 730am Novena MRT Station Control
Late- comers will buy breakfast :)
For those who CAN'T make it that day
------------------------------------
- you will need to go to TTSH on your own for the vaccination (you
can call Yi Hao or myself for the contacts)
NB: We need vaccination at least 3 weeks prior to the trip -
therefore if you are going on your own, you have to do it latest on
February 18th
- you will need to pass me $375 separately
Revert ASAP - thanks!
Oh by the way, Happy CNY! Enjoy the holiday!

Will fill up some more as I gota slot to do it soon.

Hi guys.. this is a email i write up for budi and his friends
yesterday.. it is some sort of an introduction for our trip there:
Dearest Budi and friends...
We are team Seedlings Fission, a group of youths (18 to 25) from the
Singapore eager to know more about the place of West Timor in
Indonesia. About 20 of us will be arriving in West timor on 11 of
march under the guideance of Budi and his wife for 15 days...
We will be there, to share our joy and knowladge with the people.. we
are hoping to equipt local students with good english language skills
and teaching them goal setting knowladge.. also, we are going to
assist Budi for some of his projects like planting Cashew Nuts and
Building a Library project.
It might be alittle surprising for you, but to say the truth, most of
us don't have any chance to even touch a plough or handle a hammer..
Thus, this will also be a great learning trip for us, where we could
leave our morden day city life to return to nature and do things that
we have never done before.. We will be away from our comfort, to live
in a very different environment, to a place where most of us could do
a self-reflection on our daily life, far away from our daily stress
and enjoy nature with fun.
By visiting West timor, we are hoping to forge closer bonding between
our 2 state and to exchange our culture with each other, to understand
each other and make friends with each other.. We will be learning
Bahasa Indonesia from the students after we have taught them english,
cooking local dish for our friends and also we would deffinately be
trying lots of west timor food.
We are hoping that this would be the first step for our friendship..
and hope that we could one day be hosting West timor friends in
Singapore, showing you around and bring you to try our local food. We
believe that this will be one of the most unforgettable and special
trip for all of us and we thank you for giving us such a chance to be
able to do this.. Thus, team Seedlings Fission would be eager to be
seeing you and the whole west timor soon...
cheers and thank you
yihao

The city is called Kupang , it is the capital for NTT province ( Nusa
Tengara Timur), which the population for the whole province is about 5
million .
The weather will be hot when you are there ( the same exact thing like
Singapore in March).
From Jakarta to Surabaya is 1 hour flight, from Surabaya to Timor is
about 1 hour and 40 minutes ( By Merpayti Airlines at 05:30 AM
departure, Batavia airlines at around 2 PM , by Lion Air at 4 PM).
Or a direct flight by Merpati at around 2 PM .
Garuda has a plan to start to serve the soute in March but not confirms
just yet.
T shirt dan short is ok but please consider that the mosquito are a
lot ( not like in Singapore).

ask about the rates later).
Hope that we can have the chance to do our routine Wednesday during
your stay , which we usually giving away food supplements to the
children 5 years and below at the orphanage.
I have order some trees for you to plant.
If we have the chance during one week end , we might be able to go to
the high ground side ( if you like avocado , may be we can have it
for breakfast , Lunch or dinner if you want to bring some back to
Kupang ).
We will take you to go to the wet market and fish market if you don't
mind. To see the local market which having the different kind of
selling method. Some are piled instead of to weigh the item.
I hope that this note will give you some clearer picture about the
place that you will be going in March.
Have a blessed day always.
Hi guyz,
We are requested to teach Chinese to them as well. Hence, we will form
another Chinese Committee. The plan will remain the same as it is for
now, unless any further details.
You are strongly encourage to ask your friends to join in for this

this Chinese Committee.
Thank you and have a nice day!
