Hi people

Any unicycle hockey today?

(I’ve been busy for a few weeks, but am itching to play again!!!!)

I guess the Singapore Poly court is still closed, but I’m more than happy to go down there at 6.30. I’ll collect a few unicycles + sticks, and take a maxi taxi to the bukit batok court. Should be there 7 to 9pm.

(Let me know if that’s a good idea)

All the best!

Ben

Hope so.

Last week, we went to check out other possible sites, there's 3 huge basketball courts in SP not far from the street soccer court which we can use.
Jolyon??? Possible to get the lights on tonight?

downside is there's no barricade around it, other than grass slopes surrounding 3 sides of the courts

PS: Jolyon, you're featured in New Paper today along your new hat creation. cool!

Guys 'n Girls... we are on! ... and Ben is back!!!!

Jane from SP has been great and has organised the lights to be on at the Basketball Court (It's about the same distance from the unicycle store but now behind the Student Affairs building instead of across the football field).

Jane says we can use this venue each week until the Street Soccer Courts are open again (could be more than 2 months). After the exams, we may have the company of basketball players on the neighbouring courts but the court we are allocated is by the roadside fence so it's good for us.

Unfortunately, despite her great cooperation, Jane is unable to control the weather! Let's hope 'n pray for a nice dry evening!!!

TELL EVERYBODY.... PHONE AROUND!!!! Let's kick-start the hockey back into full action!

p.s. We even had Nurul and brother with us last week... anybody know how to contact Nurul?

Cheerio!

Hi Jolyon,

Sure!
I have already informed my colleague to switch on the court lights.
Just in case if the lights are not on, please approach the security guardhouse to switch on for you.

Unicycle Hockey at the Basketball court.. Tuesdays from 2/11/04
Hi, Jane... it was really good - and rather lucky - to bump into you last Tuesday!

As per our conversation, could you please arrange for the Basketball Court lights to be on each Tuesday night for us to play the uni-hockey? That would be really helpful for us.

Warm regards,

Jolyon Caplin

Hiya... again... Ben can be there from about 5.30pm - and me too, I hope!

I plan to put a map on the grille of the store to show you where the courts are... between the Singapore Telecom tower and Dover Road... from the store, go up to the sports hall above then walk left, past the rock climbing wall and up the stairs past the squash courts. The courts are over to the right of the car park facing you.

If you get lost... follow the lights and the happy screams!

Hi all,

Just spoken to a few of my university friends on what to do after we finish with our exams....guess what.....how about a trip to ubin....they will cycle, while we uni along....perhaps some off-road mountain bikers will come along too.  Maybe we will 'convert' them after the trip...heehee.....

Dates are tentatively set as 18 Nov(Thurs)....but i know that some of us may not be able to make it due to work commitments.  So i can push the date to 20 Nov(sat) if anyone...i mean anyone says he/she wants it on sat...it can be done!

Other than those leaving for Hong Kong on 18Nov(right??) Who is interested in the ride?  Pls let me know early ....

PS: May i know if anyone knows anything about the event on 21 Nov at Marina square?  Pls let me know.

Thanks and regards...Good luck for all who are having exams...

i dont know about the rest (i'm sure they're ok) - but i were to go..
i'll probably go on 2 wheels... Rough terrain is just out for me on a
unicycle for the time being lah.

luckily stoning is not allowed in singapore - otherwise i wouldnt feel
safe going out to meet u guys ;P

if u're talking about converts, maaaybe that day i can "cooperate"
with u people, and "pretend pretend" lah! that oughta save me from
being stoned (for turning up on 2 wheels - instead of one) - and give
the rest a good example to "convert" as well... who knows.

If u're talking about the general event details, u can check your copy
of that friday weekly, page 7, at the bottom. But if u're talking
about what we're exactly supposed to be doing, who we should
coordinate with, what time we should get there, maybe for briefing or
what not, then... i dunno....

Hi,

Sorry guys for lack of details.

Anyway, the organiser have contacted me saying that we will be
required to wear costumes and cycle arnd the area.

I need to know the total number of ppl who will be going as i need
to get back to the lady-in-charge.

As far as i know, Raine, Maxim, Jeff, LeeJinzhang and Alice have all
expressed interests. i don't know if you guys can still cycle with
the costumes on, but u can try. =) The organiser have asked me for
the size of each of u guys so that she can get some costuems for us
to share. But i have not seen you guys b4 and don't know ur sizes.
so maybe u guys would like to give me some vital stats? *chuckle* =p

For those who don't know, the event is from 1-6pm. we will be taking
turns. venue is at the area opposite marina square, where the "River
Angpao" were held. We might have to meet early at maybe abt 1230 or
so to be briefed.

Actually, i don't really know what we can do there. *haha
shall we get some equipment from ben? 02 x hockey sticks? some of
those circular rubber thingy? and most importantly, make sure u guys
have ur own unicycles! if not, borrow from SP before ben/jolyn
leaves for HK!

as the date draws nearer, i'll give u guys more info. meanwhile, for
those who have not, please provide me with ya contact number/email
address.

Thanky you.

Hi all,

anyone interested in putting up a unicycling show for Chingay? (I know Jolyon is very keen).
Good news is: there's an audition coming up in 2 weeks.
Bad news: application closes tomorrow, and the audition is held during the same time as our hong kong trip.

Anyway, have a look at it, and if a group can be gathered within a day, and a routine complete with music and costumes within 2 weeks, go for it!

share??? i dont know about that...

Imagine the sweat and the stuff going on... I am very giving, you see

er... i think height is important as well leh (unless she plans on
giving us shorts or something). No? Would it be possible for her to
get back to us, perhaps, on just what sort of info she needs?

eg. does she just need "L", "M", "S" style sizes? or does she need
more exact info for when like u go to the tailor? I am not very
enthusiastic about measuring myself right now. <BUUURP>!!!

is there any way to find out? unless all we really need to do is just
to unicycle. Btw - i may not be doing any ballooning on that day, just

Perhaps a couple of us can sweet-talk PA on Monday. They want good acts and we can provide!

Hi,

1st i'll like to let you know....Maxim = me, me = jinzhang, therefore jinzhang is MAXIM

Err...i'm about size M.  My hgt is about 172-173......??? about there.....
Should have no porblems with the costumes on.  But pls "fight" for individual costumes(save the trouble of changing all the time as we change shift and of coz...the problems jeff highlighted, i'm sure they can provide)

I still got no idea where the place is.....i presume its marina park...??

Btw, is the event by OCBC for the children drawing contest or something like that?  I went for an interview with jeff, kailun and siyong 2 weeks ago and the reporter told us that that was the event.

Can i have your contact? Just in case i need to contact you.

YA..!!! i saw the chingay poster.  But it was yesterday so i thought its too late to do anything now as the closing date is too near.  Maybe we can gif them a CD version of whatever we intend to do? i can record it down and burn the footage in(hopefully).....****THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION***

Thanks

I still got no idea where the place is.....i presume its marina park...??

Btw, is the event by OCBC for the children drawing contest or something like that?  I went for an interview with jeff, kailun and siyong 2 weeks ago and the reporter told us that that was the event.

Hi all,

while the Chingay show hangs in the balance, we may have a chance at showing off our unicyling skills at another major event----countdown at Orchard on new year's eve (31 dec).

an event organiser is thinking of putting together some extreme street sports show and hopes to feature extreme unicycling as part of the key performance.

It would be a 1/2 hour paid show, complete with a routine and music, of which 5 minutes could be a 1-3 persons difficult segment (like stairs, drops, ramps etc).
Commitment and practice/rehearsals will be required. (if we can come up with full routine, it could be replicated for future shows)
Costumes will be normal street/sports wear.

Who's interested? I need names and practice can start after the exams period.

cheers,
hui fang
