Guys,
On Sunday 2nd December, I fought in my 3rd full contact tournament in Hong
Kong. I entered into the heavyweight category again (I weighed 80kg) and fought
3 matches.
First match was with a 120kg guy. I
outlasted him and was able to give a good fight. Second match was against a 6ft
140kg Japanese guy. It was hard to start off with, his weight advantage meant I
had to run about alot. Punches were ineffective against his body and the only
thing that worked was some hard roundhouse kicks to the back of his knees.
Wasn't able to knock him down though but he did wilt on me a few times. I won
as he suffered a couple of penalties... e.g. punching me a few times in the
face and grabbing my gi with both hands while kneeing me... it wasn't what I
would have wanted... would have been better to have won from a decision than
from penalties.
The Finals was a short fight with one of my dojo mates, Ah Tong.
My injuries prevented me from doing anything useful... and I lost in the first
round.
In the end, I got 2nd place for my efforts... and I can hardly walk now... my
shins are a swelling mass... ;-)
